Our Veterinarians
Dr. Julian
Rebekah Frick Julian, DVM, graduated from North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She practiced for one-and-a-half years in a high-volume, mixed-animal practice in Manchester, Tennessee, before joining James Animal Hospital and Lazy 5 Ranch Mobile Vet Service in October 2002. Dr. Julian takes a special interest in geriatric medicine to help clients and their pets through the senior years. She feels pain control, comfort in aging, and facing geriatric diseases early are top priorities in aging pets. As some clients select hospice care for their pet, she feels client/patient relationships are even more important during this time. She also enjoys canine rehabilitation, dermatology, and equine dentistry. A native of eastern Rowan County, Dr. Julian graduated high school from East Rowan before going to undergraduate school at UNC-Wilmington. She married her high school sweetheart, Scott Julian, and they have 3 children: Noah, Eli, and Hope. Dr. Julian enjoys running, playing with her children, traveling, and participating in outreach events for the community and her church.
Dr. Wilkie
Ashley Wilkie, DVM, is a native of Western Rowan County. She attended West Rowan High School and then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from UNC-Wilmington. Dr. Wilkie graduated from North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Throughout veterinary school, she focused on both large and small animal medicine. Dr. Wilkie traveled extensively throughout the United States learning various cattle production methods and received an award in Ruminant Diagnostic Medicine. Although she joined the Lazy 5 Vets Staff as a veterinarian in 2015, she has been a member of the team since 2005 as a technician. Currently, she focuses on small animal medicine with special interests in ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery. In her spare time, Dr. Wilkie enjoys traveling, fishing, and spending time with her family including her two dogs (Maggie and Fancy).
Dr. Shull
Leah Jones Shull, DVM, originally joined our team in 2016 shortly after graduating rom vet school. Her undergraduate studies were completed at North Carolina State University where she majored in Animal Science. She studied veterinary medicine at NC State’s College of Veterinary medicine where she had a mixed animal focus and graduated in 2016. Currently, she focuses on small animal medicine and has special interests in dentistry and preventative care. Dr. Shull left our practice for a brief period in 2020 due to relocating but ultimately decided to rejoin us in 2022. Dr. Shull enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her fur babies outside of when she is practicing medicine.
Dr. Stover
Kelsey Stover, DVM, CVA, is a native of Rowan County where she attended East Rowan High School. She went to Western Carolina University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with Chemistry and Music Minors. During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Stover took opportunities to study different aspects of veterinary medicine in countries such as China, Tanzania, and Ecuador. Her professional interests include companion animal medicine with special interests in feline medicine, cardiology, and rehabilitation. In regards to rehabilitation, Dr. Stover is interested in acupuncture therapy and has completed her acupuncture certification requirements. She also has an interest in avian medicine and enjoys working with both companion and wild birds. In her spare time, Dr. Stover enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with her two cats, Raven (short for Ravenclaw, Dr. Stover is an unabashed Harry Potter fan) and Wobbles (named appropriately as she is three-legged).
